- the convenience of Windows and Windows 95 to the use of ZIP files, now
- features enhanced drag and drop support. Users can drag and drop to
- bypass menus and dialog boxes for many common tasks, saving time and
- effort. WinZip 6.0a is still priced at only $29 and includes both the
- Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 versions. Registered users of any version of
- WinZip can download the new version for a free upgrade.

- developer Nico Mak. "This free upgrade to WinZip lets you open, view,
- extract, update, and print files in ZIPs with drag and drop. You don't
- even have to open WinZip to add or extract files from a ZIP: just drag
- and drop in the Explorer. Of course, long filenames are fully
- supported."

- WinZip handles the many compression formats often found on the Internet,
- with built-in support for ZIP, TAR, gzip, and Unix compress files. ARC,
- ARJ, and LHA format files are optionally supported via external
- programs. WinZip also interfaces to most virus scanners, making it an

- The 32-bit version of WinZip requires Windows 95 or Windows NT 3.5 or
- later. The 16-bit version requires Windows 3.1 or Windows for
- Workgroups. While no other programs are required for basic operations
- involving ZIP, gzip, TAR, and Unix compress files, optional features
- require one or more external programs, including the PKZIP( and PKUNZIP(
- product from PKWARE(, Inc., LHA.EXE from Haruyasu Yoshizaki, or ARJ from
- Robert Jung. WinZip interfaces to several programs to access ARC files
- and optionally runs most virus scanning utilities. Details are included
